Yarra Valley Winery Tour

$169 per person (all inclusive)

Celebrate together or just treat yourself to a wine or two while touring the beautiful Yarra Valley’s boutique wineries and breathtaking scenery.

Victoria’s oldest wine region, dating back to 1838, the Yarra Valley produces some of Australia’s finest Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sparkling and other cool climate wines. This lush agricultural setting has attracted some of the world’s best young viticulturists whose innovative approaches to grape growing and winemaking continue to cement the region’s reputation as an area of excellence. Add to this the exciting range of eateries, including many that subscribe to the paddock to plate philosophy, and you have a food and wine paradise that attracts many millions of visitors each year.

On our tour you will visit boutique and award-winning vineyards and cellar doors for wine tasting, before a lei-surely two course lunch with a glass of wine and tasting platter of local produce, all only a short one hour drive from Melbourne.

John put together the most incredible itinerary for our Yarra Valley Tour. Myself along with 11 friends spent an incredible day together doing tastings at some incredible wineries in and around the Yarra Valley. A special thanks to John for going above and beyond to ensure everyone had a great experience. We will absolutely be doing another tour with Melbourne Touring Company.

Some of the wineries we visit include:

St Huberts

One of the oldest wineries located at the gateway to the Yarra Valley, originally established in 1862 by winemaker pioneer Charles Hubert de Castella, who helped establish the region as a premium wine producing area. St Huberts is renowned for Cabernet Sauvignon with its intense fruit flavours, depth and concentration; other varieties on offer include Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Roussanne.

Domaine Chandon

The perfect way to enjoy the morning is with a visit to French Champagne company Moet & Chandon’s Australian production house, Domaine Chandon. Take in the spectacular views whilst relaxing with a glass of Australia’s best sparkling wine (i.e. Champagne but not called that here in Australia, as not produced in the French Champagne region). Don’t forget your camera for some great photos.

‘Great wine is made in the vineyard’ and Soumah set-out to select an exact location that delivered every ad-vantage of a cool climate, undulating topography and ancient soils. They found a hidden gem, located down a country lane in the dress circle Warramate foothills of the Yarra Valley.

This cool climate allows Soumah to specialise in wine styles and varieties typical to Northern Italy as well as South Eastern France. Their most awarded wines are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and they are gaining good recognition for Viognier and Syrah, and their passion for Northern Italian varieties such as Nebbiolo, Brachetto, Pinot Grigio and Savarro (Savagnin).

Soumah’s - Lunch

This relaxed restaurant overlooking the vineyards offers the very best local produce and warm, friendly service. They are a renowned favourite amongst both locals and international guests and provide an al la carte menu to choose from, perfectly matched with a glass of wine. The restaurant caters for gluten free and vegetarian palates, and other dietary requirements can be catered for. Please let us know in advance.

Yileena Park

Yileena Park is a family owned cellar door, winery and vineyard with their unique sandstone cellar recessed back into a steep hill to provide underground storage for their fine boutique wines.  They specialise in aged reds, with a minimum of 4 to 6 years ageing before release and offer a wide range of oak (old wine barrels) cold smoked products for tasting and sale. Enjoy hearing about the wines from owners Bob & Dianne Curtis, whilst sampling some extraordinary wines, a tasting platter of sensational cold smoked products and local produce, all while relaxing in the beautiful surrounds of the Yarra Valley.
